Hey, do you ever get snake vertebrae? I saw something cool here: [link] and was wondering if you had anything similar. I'd try and get 'em myself, but A) I'm terrified of snakes B) It's snowing here in Kansas, so no snakes around anyway, and C) The bones are little bitty and I'd lose 'em right outta the gate. You're probably wondering "why do you want something from an animal you're scared of ?" Valid question. Answer: You just can't argue with aesthetics... While I am scared to death of them, I'll be the first to admit that they are beautiful creatures. All sinew-y and lithe. Anywho, if ya got any, gimme a price check.

I have made something similar to that bracelet using tea-stained gaboon viper vertebrae. However, unless I get dead snakes from petstores, snake vertebrae is hard to come by. But I have about 25 verts left over from the viper. If you want all 25, I'd ask $20 plus shipping (like...$3)
You can see pics of the same ones used in this: [link] and this [link]

You get 'em from pet stores? Go figure... I didn't know they were Gaboon viper. I thought they were from some rattlesnake roundup in Texas or something... Wait-they sell GABOON VIPERS at PETSTORES?!??! Well that's a scary thought... Tea stained huh? I may just do that to this whitetail metatarsal I made a flute out of... Will the color go away if I hit it with steel wool? How long would a string of 25 be? Sorry if I come off as a bit gabby and am hitting you with a barrage of comments, I just don't like sending multiple messages.

Nonono, the gaboon viper was from a zoo. Small gaboon. Figure each vert to be 1/4" long
When tea stained, the colour will pretty much stay but dull a little bit with steel wool for that antique look.

I know, I was just kidding. So a string of 25 would be approx. 6 1/4 inches long? Little too short for what I had in mind. Thanks anyway!

:excited: I love Polar Bears. Getting one of their claws has been, like, some weird obsession of mine. Hmm, I'll really have to get a job soon, with all the cool things you have up for grabs. That'd be AMAZING to wear at school.
Not sure if you still have that for sale, since Majiran called it first, but I'd probably buy it if not.

I can definately make a second (I made one for Buffaluffalo too)
The claws are realistic cast replicas since Polar bear claws are almost freakin' illegal to get unless you find a fintage rug that's crappy and for parts.
But yeah!!! Polar bears are neat!!!! :XD:

Cool beans - yeah, Polar Bears are rather..erm...illegal. I do know of a guy who lives in an old Inuit settlement in Alaska, where they sometimes do have to kill the Polar bears. Of course, this is because they're a danger to the town, and probably will harm someone. :)

The are legal for Inuit only in raw form. A carved polar bear claw necklace is legal for non natives however. :)

cast in a 2 part resin. It's super liquidy and it takes in all the details of the claw sheath!

Hey, Zhooooon?
Did I ever mention that the Polar Bear has been my favorite animal since I was, like, five?

-first dibs on buying, desu-
How big is the necklace, and how long is the replica claw?
And do you have anything coming up on your sale batch that I might kick myself if I don't have the money for it?

(also, have you gotten my payment yet? I cleverly disguised the whole lot in a taped box of granola bars, so, uh, if you got a package of tasty treats, I hope you didn't give it to a friend with a sweet tooth.)

Really!? I always loved dragons since I was 5.... I wasn't a pony girl.... and bears scared me because of that movie The Fox and the Hound.

Nobody as of yet has claimed it so you'd be the first to take call!
The replica claw is 2 3/4" straight and 3 1/2" along the curve. It's like a grizzly sized claw but chubbier because it's from a Polar.

As of right now I don't think I have much coming up... I finished a couple of wolf fang necklace comissions, and I got two rattlesnake tail necklaces that were not comissioned. Those will be for sale when I get photos of them.
I'm thinking of putting up my megalodon teeth for sale, OH! And I have Meteorites that will be available once I get photos!!!! (for all ye Transformers/StarTrek/Aliens/ space nerds out there.

I havn't gotten paymnt yet, but that doens't mean it's lost. Denver post offices tend to be very busy. My soldier doesn't get my letters in the normal 4-5 days... sometimes it takes a whole week.

Haha, movies played a role in many a childhood fondness, I guess- I like Polar Bears because of the colored-pencil-animated, dialogue-free movie 'The Bear' from my early years, which I still have and watch when I'm feeling down.

I've lost this message due to browser failure several times, so all eloquence aside- I'd like to purchase this superb necklace from you. If you haven't sent out the order yet, I'm wondering if you could tack it in with the rest and tell me the cost of the extra shipping and I could mail you a second payment?

I feel like I'm being abrupt, here, but I'd rather not waste time in message limbo. XD

just send me a note with all you'd like!
Which order was yours? The moons eye coyote, coy tail, knuckles and scraps?
I havn't sent that one out yet, and I can merge shipping.

well.... hopefully nobody anorexic wears it... it might go right through them.
I've fallen on my dragon-sword pendant a couple times.... it's not fun.... or going to sleep with it on. Most of the time, the necklace will move to what's around it... but I havn't been terribly unlucky yet!@

The vertebrae give a nice, chunky effect. What are replica claws made from, by the way?

Also, is it easy to make/use bone beads, or are they brittle without special treatment- I've wanted to try using bone for a while, but never really got around to it.

Replica claws are made of a two part resin that picks up the slightest details. Of course, you have to cast it in low-set silicone so the mould will have impeccible detail to begin with.

I like bone beads... gotta figure that they were some of the first beads to be used. You just have to make sure the porous bone isn't overboiled or overbleached... that's what makes them brittle.

Ah- thanks, that helps. :-) I'll try making some beads if I ever find suitable bones.
