The Leopard Awaits by Zhon The Leopard Awaits by Zhon
Another leopard in the Jonas Showroom.
Very Beautiful!

Took the picture, and blacked out the background.
Not sure how to typically work layers in PS6-CS.... but I wanted to put a forest behind it.... didn't work...
Soooo....... Here he is!

I ONLY SHOT HIM WITH A CAMERA! STOP ACCUSING ME!!!!
xD

Beautiful! If I ever got a mountable leopard pelt (one can dream) I'd have it soft mounted, then pose it around the house and look like a boss.

Wow. That is an unbelievably stunning picture :wow:
It's absolutely perfect! I hope when I get a chance to do taxidermy that I will be able to accomplish something like THAT.

To be honest you were my inspiration to do so. :) Not sucking up or anything, but you made me find taxidermy rather very interesting.

Hi, This is a gorgeous photo of a leopard! I'd rather see him alive but anyway, may I have your permission to paint him?

I'd like to paint him on canvas in arcylic with some african sunset in the background, so this leopard may live again!!

Why thankies!
Yeah, it's true he'd be better alive, but then I wouldn't be able to get this close to him without getting mauled.
Sure! You got permission to use the photo for painting reference!
All I ask is that you show me a finished product when you are done

That'd be because leopards are night hunters. That and if they're loafing around, it's mostly in trees where they're so camoflauged you just pass them up.
My uncle used to host guided hunts for Africa's "Big 5" and leopards were always the hardest. The only way you can find them at night is with a spotlight... look for those reflective green eyes.

And you're welcome!

I was starting to think the leafy background I have looks too much like hawaii..... and kinda hides the leopard a bit.

o.O Is that a snow-leapord? I mean, the coloring is rather snowy pure, but also looks almost golden around the head and some of the spots. Uniqueness? Or something to do with the taxidermy process? And I feel like I could reach out and the pelt would be silky smooth rather than furry, that's how wonderful his coat looks. (suddeny realizes that his "L" key is sticking)

: ) You can also point that camera at anyone who gives you any accusation.

nope it isn't a snow leopard. First thing; the tail isn't long enough. The tail on a snow leopard is just as long, sometimes longer, than the body itself. (i know this, since snow leopards r my fav animal xD)

The snow leopards live in the himalaya mountains and other mountains surrounding, therefore they have a very thick fur to keep them warm. Their paws are also bigger than usual leopard's, so they can get a better grip on the rock when they chase a mountain goat at hi-speed - this is also the reason their tail is so long, it keeps their balance.

^_^ I wrote this reply back in 2006. I kinda feel like I was naive then- or at the least, quite out of tune with nature knowledge. Looking on this now, the idea of this being a snow leopard seems strange. You're right about the tail, and, it's not bushy enough, too. There's too much 'sleek' to this one. But thank you for the neat reply; it's informative to learn about snow leopards having a long tail for balance chasing mountain goats. :)

Nope, snow leopards are more fluffy and from somewhere in Asia I think. African leopard fur is more coarse, like lion, which is like zebra. 'Rub it the wrong way' and it'll feel like needles!
I need a digicam..... Walmart's film processing sucks, and their disk transfer sux0rs even more.....
