Of Minks and Foxes by Zhon Of Minks and Foxes by Zhon
Beautiful piece I did for :icongunnerromantic:

Mink skull as the centerpiece, with a set of 4 fox claws adorning the piece. Vertebrae are the featured beads that make up the beautiful sequence that gives the necklace a nice natural bone theme.
Hematite gem chips and black sandstone were also encorporated into this beautiful necklace.

Thank you Gunner! I hope you love this one!

OMG! This is so nice. I wish I had a necklace like this. I own a bear claw/tooth necklace I made myself, but this makes it look lame. xD

But bear tooth necklaces are awesome too! I actually used to have a lion fang necklace until it got chipped then broke off the chain somewhere without me noticing.

Yeah, but skull necklaces are awesom-er. lol. I was planning on going out in the summer and just go find myself a bird, lots seem to die around here. Probably too many cats. There's never any interesting animals like foxes or anything though. A lion fang necklace would be awesome!

OMGYES! 0_0 What would a necklace like that but with tribal markings (those are awesome!) cost?
And do you accept paypal?

Thank you! <3 I'll probably save up and buy some skulls from you one day because I collect them <3 I'm very interested in doing taxidermy myself (it's the only carreer I'm seriously concidering) but it's very dificult to learn here. Hardly any professional taxidermists here in the Netherlands T_T It sucks XD

I can do that with tribals, notta problem. And I do take paypal!

Cost will depend on what you want in the necklace.... bison horn beads, bone hairpipe, hematite, black or white blister pearls, topaz, moonstone, tigerseye.... claws.... I got a lot of stuff. Just note me with an idea and I can see what I can work out for ya!

I don't really know... all I know is that they're fish vertebrae and about 1/2" long and 1/2" in diameter.

I'm just curious, because I've been looking for them and all I could find on eBay where some giant fossils :)

Btw, how much do you pay for coyote fangs?(if you buy them) Do they come with a hole already drilled?

Zhon Featured By Owner Aug 28, 2007  Professional Artisan Crafter
I buy my coyote fangs for about a quarter a piece (my trader gets me some good deals on them) and they do have holses predrilled.
If you would like some fish vertebrae, I can sell you 10 for $3.

I'm more interested in fangs, cause I need them and can't find them anywhere :) How much would it cost, to send some(4?) to the UK in a simple envelope? ^^'

4 coyote fangs would be $1, plus about $2.50 to get a small envelope and ship it.

Yeah, I faved them. I need to post so many pics and drawings that I've done. I need three days of Mountain Dew Live Wire fueled days of scanning, saving to my jump drive, transfering to my lap top, and submitting to dev. That will be SUCH a pain. But I DO have plenty of time at school for that now. And the computer lab at the college... EVERY COMPUTER HAS PHOTOSHOP!!!! :D  I'M SO HAPPY!!! I can FINALLY use it! :P

I also do necklace commissions, so it's still quite possible for you to get a bone themed necklace. Mink or skunk skull in the middle with wolf and bear knuckles... and vertebrae!
Thankies! :)

Sweet. Haha, I actually want this exact one. xD But how much are necklace commissions? If I had a Mink skull as a centerpeice and wolf knuckles (preferably claws if available) and the vertebrae?

:iconzhon:
Zhon Featured By Owner Aug 27, 2007  Professional Artisan Crafter
I charge by the materials used.
A Mink skull would be $15, wolf claws (depending on the size) can be $10 for rears and $20 for fronts. There's a noticeable size and shape difference. Rears tend to be chubby and smaller, and the fronts are longer and curved. Vertebrae are about 10 cents each, and wolf Knuckles are about 50 cents each.
I can give you a deal on a solid vertebrae necklace, 4 wolf knuckles, 2 wolf claws, and mink skull centerpiece (any chord length you like) for $60. Of course I'd be using the smaller rear wolf claws.

But yeah... the price does vary upon the materials used.

Hm. I found measurements for the skunk and mink skulls to be a little large to wear as a necklace. Around 8cm, yes? Do you have any smaller skulls around?

If so, the front wolf claws, vertebrae, and those black beads if you have them. :) (cause they look awesome. <3)

yeah, the bull mink and skunk skulls are roughly 3" long. I do have an ermine skull that's about half their size, but it's currently being cleaned and won't be done for another week. It's a natural greytone colour (like my Tribal Beast Necklace). If you want the ermine, I can keep him that natural grey colour or whiten it for you at no extra charge.

I have a rabbit skull as well, but he's preserved to look morbidly mummefied. And he isn't much smaller than the skunk skull.

I don't mind waiting! ^-^ And ermine skull sounds great actually. The grey tone left as is would be fine too. :)
Would you note me when you have the skull prepared?
