Tauntaun's Debut at Starfest 2009

Isn't she such a happy tauntaun?!?!

I absolutely hated the way I put her together so fast, and everyone kept bugging me to enter the cosume contest.
So I did...
Got 1st place in the Media Sci-Fi category!

WEWT!

She is made of rabbit fur, sheep fur, real ram horns, taxidermy eyes, cast claws and every one of those eyelashes was individually plugged in!!!! Lots of hard work on the face... shitty job on the bodysuit!
Her jaw opens and closes with my jaw for full talkative interactions.

Did you use a taxidermy head form as the base? Or carve your own? If you used a base mind sharing which one you used? I'm planning a fake taun taun head mount ;)

Honestly, I carved down a Nyala taxidermy head form and just added the horns and furred it! :)

Ahhh that's what it is! I was guessing it was a deer or antelope of some kind, but I couldn't figure out which one.

This is amazing. It looks so real. I admire that you used real fur, horns and that the jaw moves. That must have taken forever. The eyes are what really makes it look real though. FANTASTIC.

It's gorgeous and I bet the real fur gives it an extra special something. I'm not all for using real fur for the whole outfit, but around the face in limited amounts doesn't seem so bad. It probably lays better anyways. And at least it's getting used instead of rotting somewhere.
The eyelashes and nose are AMAZING.
